This hybrid android is a fusion of Nimrod and the walking Sentinel factory known as Mastermold. Another, similar choice would be Bastion. He also has more intelligence than your average, single-minded Sentinel, which is pretty important if you're going to cast someone with the acting talent of Dinklage. He can shape-shift (check), time travel (check), and regenerate his body as readily as the T-1000 from Terminator 2. This futuristic Sentinel, named after the Biblical hunter, is pretty much the ultimate Sentinel. With the Sentinels on board, it would make sense to choose a main villain who's a Sentinel himself. And considering how little we've seen of the robotic mutant hunters in the franchise so far, it's about time. Nimrod/Bastion We know that the Sentinels will play a big role in Days of Future Past, just as they did in the comic book storyline. Bryan Singer and crew may opt to move in a different direction for the new villain. First Class' Shaw shared as much in common with Sinister as he did the traditional comic book version of Shaw. One problem with Sinister, however, is that he might be too similar to Sebastian Shaw from First Class. Sinister's presence in Days of Future Past could be a way of setting the stage for Apocalypse in a later sequel. Could Sinister's presence be a way of bringing Jean back into the picture? Also like Apocalypse, Sinister has a tendency to shape-shift and hide in plain sight, and Dinklage could easily portray him in his civilian disguise while voicing the character in his true, vampire-esque form. Above all, Sinister is intent on using the genetic material of Cyclops and Jean Grey to create the ultimate mutant specimen. This Victorian England-era scientist was actually transformed by Apocalypse and became first a servant and then a rival to the immortal mutant. Mister Sinister Another core member of the X-Men rogues gallery, Sinister rivals Apocalypse in his obsession with genetics and mutant tampering. Dinklage could be playing the villain in his human disguise, and then voicing him after his transformation. And though Apocalypse is generally portrayed as a large mutant in bulky blue armor, he has the ability to shape-shift. The Sentinel program could be another attempt by Apocalypse to cull the mutant race and ensure that only the strong survive. His advanced technology both renders him immortal and allows him to travel the timestream at will.

Apocalypse is a natural choice for any story involving time travel. Naturally, humanity is often the target of his wrath. He believes in 'survival of the fittest,' forcibly weeding out weak creatures so that the strong can survive. The being formerly known as En Sabah Nur rose from humble origins in Ancient Egypt, gathering power, technology, and followers over the centuries. He's also one of the very first mutants to have appeared on the planet.
